Rhythm and Steel engages audiences from all ages and backgrounds with a lively and joyful repertoire of calypso and traditional music from around the world as well as familiar American songs. Singing, dancing, playing instruments and audience participation is encouraged throughout the performance. Previous engagements include: Marblehead Arts Festival, Waltham Farmers Market, Waltham and Watertown Public Libraries, Burlington Public Schools, and many nursing homes and rehab centers around the Boston Area. Elsa Lichman has played Steel Drum and percussion with Steel Bands in the Caribbean and around the Boston Area, including Branches , Boston Jammers and the Metro Steel Orchestra. Ms.Lichman is an artist as well as a musician and has created many one of a kind hand painted garments for other artists and musicians. Ms. Lichman also performs with Koleinu Jewish Chorus. Susanna Fiore is a jazz pianist and percussionist. She has been accompanying Elsa Lichman for over ten years. Ms. Fiore also performs with Muse Stew Latin Jazz Band, Equipoise Jazz Trio and the Susanna Fiore/Jay Girill duo. Ms. Fiore has played for African Dance Classes and performed with drum ensembles throughout the Boston Area.
